www.medhbti.com: An Ode to Mechanical Fraternity...

Being an 21st century net addicted engineering student, I was always fascinated by those interactive blogs and on-line communities, helping different people with common interests in gathering together at one common junction and share archetype bazookas of their creative thoughts.
It gave me a push. Why can’t we have our own junction where all the prodigious minds from all over the world in the field of Mechanical Engineering gather for the advancements in research and development of new technologies? Other reason behind this thought was that, as a Mechanical Engineer, I always believed in practical studies than mugging up the boring text books. I always believed in some firing brain storming sessions which, indeed, help us in polishing our basics.
So I decided to do something. I decided to create a blog. I started with it and collected some data from net and created a blog of Mechanical Engineering Department, HBTI, Kanpur. Now for any further improvements and suggestions, I sent a link of it to Dr. Onkar Singh Sir, HoD, ME Department. I was completely blank about his reaction. Will he appreciate it or discard it as a piece of shear waste of time? So I kepy my fingers crossed.
And finally I got a ping on my mail next day and surprisingly it was from Onkar Sir. He called me to his office and asked me to do something I had never thought of. He asked me to create the website of ME Department and I was bewildered because I was either hoping for the best or prepared for the worst, but never gave a thought to it. I didn’t know what to say because I had no idea about either html or web hosting. And without thinking about how will I do it, I said, “ok sir, I’ll try my best.”
So the countdown began and I was searching for my starting lane. Fortunately I had heard of some kind of html editor called Dreamweaver (Courtesy of three of my friends in my group who are from CSE). So I called them and asked them to brief me about it. (Special thanks to them)
That’s how I started my journey. With the help of some of my classmates and juniors, I managed to collect the whole data and material needed of website. I still remember those days going into each and every faculty office for updates and with the leather shoes, it was even more difficult. Then to compile them single handedly, it was damn feverish task. Still I had to do it because it was a commitment. A commitment of a student to his teacher.
Finally with the continuous support of Onkar Sir and financial aid from Association of Mechanical Engineering, HBTI, Kanpur, within three months, I found myself very near to the summit of my destination. And finally we reached there and we all were having a reason to proud of.
Department of Mechanical Engineering, one of the oldest and elite departments of HBTI, Ladies and Gentleman, is the only department with its own personal website
www.medhbti.com. We started silently but ended with a bang when Dr. K.U.Bhaskara Rao, Director, DMSRDE, launched it officially in MECHARNIVAL 2009.
Now I am in final year of my B.Tech and when I look back on those three months, I feel like nothing is impossible if you have two things with you. Your will and your hope. I, despite of having no knowledge about coding, programming, web hosting etc, could do it just because of these two forces. Because your will and your hope are two things that no one can snatch from you. And I still hope that my fellow Harcourtians will keep this spirit alive in HBTI.
I always like these lines, “Two mice fell into a bucket of cream. One quickly gave up and drowned. But other one struggled and eventually churned that cream into butter and came out safely.”
Always be that second mouse.

Getting Started....

Hey everyone.....this is Nitin a.k.a Pappe (name given to my by my fellow McGians). I’m a Mechanical Engineering Student of HBTI Kanpur (I wonder why people find Mechanical Engineering difficult....infect I love it, though my marks does not support my claim....). Now the reason behind my "NAAMKARAN" is my cock-a-hoop, 6 ft tall appearance with a bit dark complexion.... (Although I look stunning girls...... ;). If I quote my friends, I almost look like an assassin when I walk with my attitude on sleeves..... (Me….an Assassin?????). Well it’s all up to you what you want to call me, it’s all accepted. As far as my inner self is concerned, u will need to spend a little time with me....u may find me a bit introvert in beginning, but as the time will pass, you will come to know more n more about me (some shades of my nature which remain unrevealed by my first impression).... As far as my hobbies are concerned, I like to do anything which I find interesting to keep my mind occupied. A total music freak with different different tastes. From soul touching instrumentals of Yanni and Beethoven to hard rock foot tapping tracks by LP, from melodic creations of Rahman to classic gazals of Jagjeet ji, I love them all…. Stage performances are my second love after music. Whether its dance or singing or acting, I love to do all…. (Even in my final year….). For any further information about me, kindly go through my profile... (I promise it has not a work of "ctrl+c and ctrl+v").
You can also find me on orkut . (

Now for those who already know me, what am I doing here may be still bewildering for them. Blogging is not Pappe’s cup of tea! Its not like compiling a no of music pieces together and create a master piece music track for choreos (our HBTI version of Opera without that glass breaking high pitch voice).....blogging is for free thinkers....(although I am), the writers who play with words like they r playing with strings of violin....(too poetic....) and this is my biggest fear....I have a feel that I can't write so I thought just give it a shot.....that’s why I am here....to conquer this fear of writing....(Special thanks to Chintu a.k.a Tarang for motivating me. For all of u, Tarang is my fellow McGian and a regular blogger....although sometimes I don’t understand what he writes...
http://crackatdawn.blogspot.com/) so you all have to bear with me....u have to tolerate my little attempt....
Please post your genuine feedback so that next time, it will prove to be less "Dassu" for you....
Carpe Deim guys.... (Seize the day)
